Some of the most powerful maternity portraits I have ever made are the ones where a partner is present — the way he places his hand on her belly without being asked, the way she leans into him. These are the portraits that become the photographs at their child’s wedding one day.

I photograph the mother she is becoming.
Maternity portraits are the ones I feel most honoured to make. There is something sacred about this time — the waiting, the becoming, the way a woman’s whole body and life are rearranging themselves around someone she hasn’t met yet.
I don’t photograph pregnancy. I photograph the woman inside the pregnancy. Her strength, her softness, her relationship with the life she is already caring for. These are the portraits her child will look at one day and understand, for the first time, what they meant to their mother before they were even born.
It is the greatest privilege of my work to document that.

When is the best time for maternity portraits?
Between 32 and 36 weeks — the beautiful full silhouette without discomfort. Book at least 6 weeks ahead to secure your preferred date and allow time for wardrobe planning.
Where are sessions held?
In our Chelmsford studio or at outdoor locations throughout Greater Boston — Acton Arboretum, the fields around Concord, private estates in Westford. We'll discuss what suits the look you're after during your consultation.
How long does a maternity session take?
Typically 1 hour — time for wardrobe changes, a relaxed pace, and any partner or family portraits you'd like to include.
Can my partner or family be included?
Absolutely. Partner and family portraits are included at no extra charge. Some of the most powerful images from these sessions are the quiet moments between partners.
What do I wear for maternity portraits?
Simple, timeless clothing — flowing fabrics, neutral tones, soft textures. The studio has a wardrobe of organic linens and soft knits available at no extra cost. A detailed wardrobe guide is sent to you after booking.
Can we include parents and siblings?
Absolutely — and I encourage it. There is nothing more legacy-defining than a portrait showing the scale of your child in your hands at this exact, fleeting stage. Family portraits are woven in naturally alongside the milestone portraits.
What do we get at the end?
Every milestone commission results in tangible, museum-grade artwork for your home — wall portraits, heirloom albums, or a curated collection. During your private Reveal & Curation appointment we design your art together using your home's actual wall measurements. Digital files are available as an add-on, not as a standalone package.
