Sitter & Milestone Portraits · Chelmsford, MA
The first year,
frame by frame.
From the first genuine smile to the triumphant first birthday — every milestone of the first year deserves to be preserved as museum-grade art.

three milestones worth preserving
Every stage of the first year tells
a completely different story.

The goldilocks window — sitting independently, full of personality, not yet walking away. Eight weeks. Then it's gone.
Explore this session
One whole year. The person they have become, and the family that grew around them. The triumphant close of the first chapter.
Explore this sessionCommission one session, or all three.
Each chapter stands completely on its own as a finished portrait commission. Many families begin with the sitter session and return for the first birthday. Others choose The First Year Series — all three sessions commissioned together as a single, cohesive collection of your baby's entire first year.

Chapter I · The Awakening · 3–5 Months
The window everyone
wishes they hadn't missed.
The 4-month session captures something no other portrait can. Your baby is smiling now — genuinely, unmistakably — tracking your face, responding to your voice with that wide-eyed wonder that disappears so quietly you almost don't notice it's gone.
This is the window between the drowsy newborn and the busy, independent crawler. We photograph it with the same restraint and artistry as the rest of the triptych: organic textures, simple compositions, natural light — portraits built to last two hundred years on a wall.
A note on wardrobe
For this age, we keep it simple and timeless. Think organic linens, soft knits, and muted neutrals.
- Soft neutrals: cream, sage, warm white, dusty grey
- Natural textures: linen, cotton knit, organic muslin
- Avoid logos, patterns, bright colours, or seasonal themes
- A full wardrobe guide is provided after booking

Chapter II · The Discovery · 6–9 Months
The window everyone wishes they hadn't missed.
Between six and ten months, something shifts. They sit independently, discover their voice, and look directly into the camera with a soulful gaze that stops you cold. Not yet crawling. Full of personality. This is the moment I have been waiting for — and the one most families look back on as the most irreplaceable portrait they ever made.
I specialize in this Goldilocks phase — where the infant is gone but the toddler hasn't arrived. We work on the floor, in natural interaction, with no forced poses or rushed timelines.
A note on wardrobe
We curate a wardrobe of organic linens, soft knits, and neutral tones in the studio. Our goal is to remove the noise of modern baby clothing so the focus remains entirely on your child's features and expressions.
- Classic neutrals in organic fabrics — always timeless
- Two wardrobe setups included — we guide your selections
- Parents are encouraged to step into the frame
III
Chapter III · The Celebration · 12 Months
One whole year.
Preserved forever.
The first birthday portrait is not only about your baby — it is about everything that happened to your family this year. The sleepless nights. The first laugh. The way they look at you now that they know exactly who you are. We document all of it: your baby at one, and the family they were born into.
A glimpse at the work.
These are a small selection. Every session is unique — lighting, wardrobe, personality.

The soul behind the smile
"People often ask me why I begin my baby commissions at six months rather than earlier. The answer is simple: I am a storyteller of character.
There is a profound shift that happens around six months. It's the moment the infant becomes a person — the wide-eyed wonder when they discover their voice, the proud triumph of sitting tall for the first time, and that deep, soulful gaze that looks right through the lens and into your heart."
I wait for this stage because I want to give you more than a photograph of a sleeping baby. I want to give you a portrait of your child's spirit. These are the expressions you will recognise twenty years from now — the spark that was there from the very beginning.
QUESTIONS
What families want to know before booking.
Milestone sessions require a little more timing precision than other portrait work. Here is what most families ask.
When is the best time to book the sitter session?
Book at 4–5 months so your session lands in the 6–8 month window. The sitter phase lasts only about eight weeks and studio availability fills quickly. Waiting until your baby is already sitting often means the window has already passed. Earlier is always better.
Do I need to do all three sessions?
Not at all. Each chapter stands completely on its own as a finished portrait commission. Many families choose just the sitter session — if time or budget allows only one, that is the one most families say they are most grateful they documented. You can also add the First Year Triptych package if you would like all three commissioned together.
What is a Sitter Session, exactly?
A milestone commission specifically for babies who can sit unassisted but are not yet walking — roughly 6 to 9 months. This is the Goldilocks phase: full of personality, staying in one place, and generally at their happiest. It is widely considered the most rewarding baby milestone portrait.
What if my baby is not sitting independently yet?
We never photograph a milestone your baby is not ready for. If your baby is close but not quite there, we reschedule to the right window rather than compromise the portraits. A session two weeks later at the right developmental moment is always worth the wait.
How should I dress my baby?
Simple, classic, timeless — organic linens, soft knits, warm neutrals. We remove the noise of modern baby clothing so the focus remains on your child's features and expressions. You will receive a full wardrobe guide after booking, and I am always available to review selections in advance.
Can we include parents and siblings?
Absolutely — and I encourage it. There is nothing more legacy-defining than a portrait showing the scale of your child in your hands at this exact, fleeting stage. Family portraits are woven in naturally alongside the milestone portraits.
What do we get at the end?
Every milestone commission results in tangible, museum-grade artwork for your home — wall portraits, heirloom albums, or a curated collection. During your private Reveal & Curation appointment we design your art together using your home's actual wall measurements. Digital files are available as an add-on, not as a standalone package.
